My name is Stephany Novoa, author of The Last Sane Awoken series. I’ve been writing since early high school days in used, battered notebooks I’d carry everywhere to jot down scenes between school assignments. many of my characters were created over 15 years ago, but I was terrified to write my story. I feared judgement and what everyone would think of me.
Well, I don’t care about that anymore!
My passion for my world and story far exceeds the fear I had as a teen and young adult. A story of finding oneself, romance, courage, strength, and pain wrapped into a dark fantasy adventure which has 6 unique characters discovering who they really are and what role they have to play in their world.
I believe a good story involves beautifully flawed characters growing into the best version of themselves over time, even if it takes years. Much like us, we didn’t ask to be here, and our own struggles weigh heavy, but when the world calls for help, we give.

I started by writing fanfiction, but after high school decided my own story would be more interesting just in case I wanted to write a book!
I did not go to school for writing! I’ve earned two math degrees and work as a data scientist during the day!
Roleplay with a friend over Google Docs allowed me to try characters in multiple universes and test out behaviors and personalities before defining the character. The longest universe we wrote about was over 1500 pages long over 8 months!
The first cover of book one, The Last Sane Awoken I: Freedom, was drawn by me! Every chapter has chapter art I created on my iPad pro. I’ve been drawing since I was five years old and wanted to be a hobby artist just like my dad!
I have a few characters tattooed on me! Dmitry and Rock are beautiful thigh pieces. Lucius is an awesome arm/shoulder/back piece. I plan on getting more in the future!
